As the title suggests, I am OBSESSED with seersucker this season! To me, nothing says summer like this bright fabric, in any and every color you can imagine. For those of you who might not be familiar with it, seersucker is a lightweight cotton fabric that is lightly striped and has a bit of a puckered texture to it, thus lifting it away from the skin.
Living in the Bluegrass, summers are unbearably hot and humid, discouraging any outdoor activity unless it’s a trip to the pool. While I can’t exactly run errands in my bathing suit, that pretty much leaves me with gym shorts and a tank top. Which is totally fine, but for every single day? #nothankyou
And I don’t own many super-casual dresses, either.
And sometimes even chino shorts are too thick and hot for the most scorching days.
So what’s a girl to do?
If I buy one type of shorts this summer, I will invest in a couple pairs of seersucker shorts. Lightweight, breathable, and OH SO comfortable that I feel like I’m wearing pajama shorts instead of daytime-wear! I’m currently writing this post while wearing these shorts, and I frequently look down to make sure I didn’t accidentally walk out of the house in my PJ’s!
I’m not exaggerating, they are that comfortable.
I rounded up some of the seersucker pieces that are definitely crush-worthy and sure to keep you feeling cool in the summer heat. For cool evenings, you can easily trade out your flats for pumps and layer a pullover or denim jacket over a seersucker dress or pair of shorts or pants, and still look put-together. This seersucker swimsuit is a must-have for a day lounging pool- or beach-side!
Dresses, pencil skirt, pants, and blazers are great ways to work seersucker into your work wear wardrobe, or you can add just a small touch to your outfit through a belt, pair of shoes, headband, or an adorable clutch like this one from Vineyard Vines.
With so many options to choose from, it will be easy to beat the heat in style!
Do you have any seersucker pieces you are currently crushing on?
